FAQ

How long will my tea stay fresh and how should I store it?

Did you know that tea doesn't actually expire, but it does lose its freshness over time?

To keep your tea fresh, always store it in a cool, dry, dark place and keep it tightly sealed. And to make sure you always have the best cup of tea, we recommend you follow these rules to enjoy your tea:

Tea and infusions with fruit and nuts: consume within 6 months from date of purchase.

Pure tea: consume within 12 months of purchase date.

What is the difference between natural and artificial flavors?

Natural flavors come from natural sources, such as essential oils, essences, or extracts. Artificial flavors are made in a factory, without the use of any plant or fruit. They may seem to taste the same, but they lack depth and nuance. We want to be able to drink our tea with confidence and show and taste the beauty of nature, which is why you'll only find teas with natural ingredients here.

Does your tea contain flavorings?

While we offer great unflavored teas, we sometimes create a blend that does contain flavorings. In fact, that’s why some of our favorite blends taste so good! Keep in mind that no matter how strong the flavor, the actual amount of flavorings in a brewed cup of tea is virtually zero — about 0.001%.

But if flavorings aren't your thing, you still have a ton of options. We have over 40 unflavored blends like this one ... and counting!

How do I make the perfect cup of tea?

You've come to the right place! Depending on the tea type and ingredients, we recommend different steeping times and temperatures to ensure the flavors are just right. You can find our recommended steeping instructions on each tea's product page.

Do your teas contain sugar or calories?

Most of our teas contain virtually no sugar, carbohydrates or calories. When they do, they are natural sugars (for example in pineapple teas) and always less than 5% of the amount of sugar found in most fruit juices or other ready-to-drink beverages on the market, making them a healthier alternative.

For more detailed information, see the 'Ingredients' of each tea.

Are your teas gluten free? Vegan?

While most of our teas are gluten-free, they are not produced in dedicated gluten-free facilities and are not certified gluten-free. Please check the ingredients and allergen lists carefully and, if in doubt, consult your healthcare provider.

And yes, we have a huge selection of vegan teas! Shop our vegan teas here .

Where can I find a list of ingredients and more information about allergies?

The product page of each tea contains a list of ingredients and mentions the main allergens. Please read everything carefully. If you have an allergy, we recommend that you talk to your healthcare provider before consuming any of our teas.

Darjeeling First Flush DJ1 2026 – Selection from Liza Hill estate

A rare First Flush with character

The Darjeeling SFTGFOP1 First Flush DJ1 2026 from Liza Hill Estate comes from the very first harvest of the season and originates from an exclusive section of the estate dedicated to the finest tea bushes, reserved for exceptional teas. This early spring picking delivers a lively, refined and gently sweet freshness that defines top-quality Darjeeling First Flush tea. Each sip feels like a fresh mountain walk through the Himalayas; bright, elegant and beautifully smooth. Perfect for tea lovers seeking the purest expression of Darjeeling.

High-altitude terroir and meticulous craftsmanship

The tea bushes grow at high elevation in the pristine mountain air of the Liza Hill Tea Estate in Darjeeling, India, where unique soil conditions and careful cultivation create remarkable depth of flavour. Across fallow land and garden boundaries, grasses, shrubs and trees are planted to support biodiversity and soil vitality, forming the natural foundation for complex aroma development. The result is a refined SFTGFOP1 Darjeeling tea with sparkling freshness, delicate floral notes and elegant structure, appealing equally to newcomers and experienced tea drinkers.

A flavour journey for discerning tea lovers

This DJ1 2026 First Flush Darjeeling is known for its lively yet gentle character. Expect fresh spring leaf notes, subtle sweetness and a clean, aromatic finish. Close your eyes and travel sip by sip to the breathtaking slopes of Liza Hill, a taste experience treasured by connoisseurs worldwide. For the best infusion, we recommend brewing with filtered or still water to fully reveal its layered aromas. Ideal as a refined morning tea or a graceful moment of calm later in the day.

What does DJ1 mean?

In Darjeeling tea, DJ1 refers to the first produced and auctioned lot from a specific tea estate in a particular harvest year. It indicates the sequence within the First Flush harvest, not the flavour profile or leaf grade.

Specifically, DJ1/2026 means:

  1. DJ = Darjeeling (region of origin)
  2. 1 = first batch/invoice of the season
  3. 2026 = harvest year of the First Flush

Because DJ1 is the very first lot harvested and processed, it is often highly sought after by tea connoisseurs. It represents the earliest spring character of the estate and is therefore considered especially fresh, lively and exclusive.
