Methods for preparing matcha
Preparing matcha begins by preheating the matcha bowl; use hot water, swirling it around the bowl until the sides and bottom feel warm, then discard the water.
Next, fill the bowl again with water at a temperature of 75–80°C.
Always sift the matcha through a fine-mesh sieve beforehand to prevent any lumps from forming in the bowl.

How to make Usucha (thin matcha)
The most common form of matcha; contains a moderate amount of caffeine and is rich in antioxidants.
Use 2 grams of matcha per 80 ml of water.
Gently whisk the matcha and water together using a bamboo whisk, moving it in a ‘W’ or ‘M’ pattern. Ensure you whisk thoroughly until all lumps have disappeared.
Depending on your preference, you can increase the whisking speed until a layer of foam forms on top.

How to make Koicha (thick matcha)
Matcha for the experienced; offers an intense umami flavor, a higher caffeine content, and an even greater concentration of antioxidants.
Use 40 ml of water and 4 grams of matcha. Whisk the water and tea slowly for a longer duration; this creates a thick tea that is best enjoyed using a small spoon.

What is the difference between natural and artificial flavors?

Natural flavors come from natural sources, such as essential oils, essences, or extracts. Artificial flavors are made in a factory, without the use of any plant or fruit. They may seem to taste the same, but they lack depth and nuance. We want to be able to drink our tea with confidence and show and taste the beauty of nature, which is why you'll only find teas with natural ingredients here.

Does your tea contain flavorings?

While we offer great unflavored teas, we sometimes create a blend that does contain flavorings. In fact, that’s why some of our favorite blends taste so good! Keep in mind that no matter how strong the flavor, the actual amount of flavorings in a brewed cup of tea is virtually zero — about 0.001%.

But if flavorings aren't your thing, you still have a ton of options. We have over 40 unflavored blends like this one ... and counting!

How do I make the perfect cup of tea?

You've come to the right place! Depending on the tea type and ingredients, we recommend different steeping times and temperatures to ensure the flavors are just right. You can find our recommended steeping instructions on each tea's product page.

Do your teas contain sugar or calories?

Most of our teas contain virtually no sugar, carbohydrates or calories. When they do, they are natural sugars (for example in pineapple teas) and always less than 5% of the amount of sugar found in most fruit juices or other ready-to-drink beverages on the market, making them a healthier alternative.

For more detailed information, see the 'Ingredients' of each tea.

Are your teas gluten free? Vegan?

While most of our teas are gluten-free, they are not produced in dedicated gluten-free facilities and are not certified gluten-free. Please check the ingredients and allergen lists carefully and, if in doubt, consult your healthcare provider.

And yes, we have a huge selection of vegan teas! Shop our vegan teas here .

Where can I find a list of ingredients and more information about allergies?

The product page of each tea contains a list of ingredients and mentions the main allergens. Please read everything carefully. If you have an allergy, we recommend that you talk to your healthcare provider before consuming any of our teas.
